To create a fundraising campaign on PassTheHat4, you must agree to the following terms:

To use this service, you must have a PayPal account, but PassTheHat4 is not affiliated with PayPal, and we cannot assist you in setting up your PayPal account. If you have any problems with account setup, validation, donation transactions, or withdrawals, it is your responsibility to contact PayPal and to work with them for a resolution. Please refer to the PayPal site for all relevant information, and if you have problems or questions that aren't answered by thier Help feature, please contact PayPal support. By using this webpage service, you agree that all financial matters are entirely between you and PayPal, and that PassTheHat4.com will not be held as a party to any disputes that may arise.

This service provides a convenient way to create a page with a "Donate" button that sends donors to PayPal to contribute to your PayPal account, and to track the donations reported back from PayPal via their Instant Payment Notification service. All or the donation data will be available to you in PayPal, but as a convenience, PassTheHat4 will retain some data which will be available to you here in a summary report: the PayPal transaction numbers, the donors' names, the amounts, and usually the email addresses. (Donors can choose in PayPal whether or not to share their email addresses with you.) From this summary page, you can easily send personal Thank You messages to donors.

Your campaign page will show the total number of donations, the total amount collected, and the progress toward your goal, if you have specified one. You will have the option of displaying the donors' names on your campaign page, and also optionally their donations, but not their email addresses. PassTheHat4 does not share donor email addresses with any third parties, for any reason.

PassTheHat4 does not promote or endorse any campaigns: It is your responsibility to share your page link on social media or otherwise advertise your campaign.

We will do our best to make the site highly available, but PassTheHat4 cannot guarantee availability. By using this service, you agree that you will not hold PassTheHat4 financially responsible for any unavailability.

We reserve the right to cancel any campaign that we deem to be fraudulent. You are entirely responsible for any representations made on your campaign page. Making false representations for the purpose of raising money is fraud, which may subject you to serious legal consequences. We will cooperate fully with legal authorities and with PayPal in any lawful investigations of fraud, including providing any information we have about the creation and use of a campaign page.

. . . is a free service that lets you create a simple fundraising web page with a PayPal    button. All donations go directly into your PayPal account. You'll get notices for each donation, and we'll track your donations and the progress toward your fundraising goal.

All payment processors, including PayPal, charge a fee of about 3% on each transaction. But unlike online fundraising services which charge an additional 5% or more on each donation, there is no added charge to you or your donors for using the PassTheHat4 service: This non-profit service is supported by private contributions.

To start your fundraising campaign...
. . . you will need a PayPal account that can accept website payments. If you do not already have a PayPal Business or Premier account, please go to PayPal to open an account. ("Personal" accounts cannot accept website payments, but they can be upgraded.) You will be able to start collecting donations immediately, but be aware that to withdraw funds, you will need to register a bank account or credit card with PayPal, which they will verify. Another policy is: "Fundraisers that are not verified nonprofits will be asked to demonstrate how their donations will be used, once they raise more than $10,000." Please refer to the PayPal site for all policies, rules, and requirements.

Your page will be accessed on this site by the Campaign Name you give it, such as "passthehat4.com/MyFundraisingCampaign", so chose a meaningful name. Enter your PayPal email address, describe the purpose of the fundraising and a few other optional details, and your page will be ready to go.
Then...
. . . to launch your fundraising campaign, you just need to share your "PassTheHat4.com/MyFundraisingCampaign" page link. There will be buttons on your campaign page for you and your visitors to share the page on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.
